ABOUT
The songs of midwest feel like beacons in a tempest. The Indiana artist developed his chameleonic style in the pandemic- era hyperpop scene, emphasizing sincerity and transparency in songs like his grungy hit “Trying.” Whether he is rapping over rage beats or penning sweet ballads, midwest aims to provide listeners a path forward through relationships, identity formation and the internet. His upcoming album E3 showcases his imagination and world-building-it’s his most immersive and conceptual experience yet.
The key to the world of midwxst is his scrappiness. He’s understood from the jump that there’s no rulebook to great art. He learned how to make music through talking on Discord with other teenagers during COVID. And despite being in rooms with artists like Denzel Curry and Babytron he continues to keep that spirit alive. For his 2022 project better luck next time, recorded in a deep depression after a breakup in his first semester of college, midwst turned to his new classmates for help on the closing track “ON MY MIND.” “Those are five of my college friends on that song in my dorm room, singing with me because I asked them to,” he says. “I don’t have a choir budget, so l’m gonna ask all my friends who make music on campus to come and sing for me in different tones.”

The songs of midwxst feel like beacons in a tempest, a blend of rap, hip hop, rock and whatever else he needs to bottle up the exact feeling in his heart. The Indiana artist developed his chameleonic style in the pandemic-era hyperpop scene, emphasizing sincerity and transparency in songs like his grungy hit “Trying.” Whether he is rapping over rage beats or penning sweet ballads, midwxst wants to guide listeners forward in their relationships, self-discovery, and journey through the digital world.
He wants to be the voice he needed growing up, when bullying, depression, and anxiety left him feeling unheard and alone. While his upbringing in a military family helped him to adapt to situations, he still lacked a sense of community until he met an online scene of like-minded teenagers and they started making music together during COVID. Now, forged by those experiences, he has learned to turn challenges into creative fuel, and has emerged as one of its most promising and ambitious generational voices. His singles and projects alike, bring an untapped sense of maturity and passion. His series of BACK IN ACTION EP’s, better luck next time EP, and his debut album, E3, have continued to showcase his abilities and promise as a songwriter and genre-defying performer.
His latest album archangel is a full concept album and his most immersive world to date. The name and concept for the album is derived from the meaning of an archangel as a high-ranking angel in various religious traditions. midwxst notes, “archangel is more than a project to me. It’s a representation of change and transformation from all that I’ve experienced in the last couple of years. The music on this project talks about my mental health, my friendships, and my family. There is a lot of hurt and growth – this project is a testament to the importance of healing and moving forward.
Influences & Style
His style is chameleonic—shaped by the raw energy of early hyperpop and a DIY spirit born on Discord. Midwxst’s music reflects a generation raised online: emotionally honest, boundaryless, and creatively fearless. Tracks like “Trying” blend grunge with vulnerability, while newer works explore world-building and imagination, as seen in his upcoming album E3—his most conceptual project yet.
